This versatile blouse is perfect for adding a touch of refined elegance to various occasions:

  • Professional Settings: Ideal for a smart office look when layered, or as a standalone top in a creative professional environment.

Intermediate. This pattern requires skills in constructing a stand collar, creating neat pleats, working with a cut-on button placket, and finishing armholes with bias binding.

Fabric Recommendations

For best results, choose light, fluid fabrics that drape well and highlight the garment's delicate features:

  • Thin, transparent fabrics made from natural or blended fibers (e.g., chiffon, voile, organza, georgette)

Additional Supplies

  • Fusible interfacing
  • 7 buttons

Cutter's Must

  • From main fabric:
  • Back – 1 piece
  • Front – 2 pieces
  • Stand Collar – 2 pieces
  • Bias strips for the armholes, 4.5–5.0 cm wide – 2 pieces (cut by measurement)
  • From fusible interfacing:
  • Cut-on placket strips of the Front – 2 pieces
  • Stand Collar (outer) – 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse interfacing to the cut-on plackets of the fronts and to the outer Stand Collar.
  2. Place the Stand Collar pieces right sides together and stitch along the outer edge, starting and ending the seam exactly at the stand attachment line. Clip the seam allowances on the curves, turn the stand right side out and press.
  3. Fold and press the pleats on the front according to the markings. Note: the pleat depths face the front edge and the folds face the side seam. Press the cut-on placket twice to the wrong side and topstitch 0.1 cm from the inner fold.
  4. Stitch the shoulder seams of the blouse. Press the seams towards the back and overlock.
  5. Stitch the outer Stand Collar to the neckline, turn under the open edge of the inner Stand Collar and stitch it in place along the attachment seam.
  6. Cut bias strips from the main fabric, 4.5–5.0 cm wide and as long as the armhole. Press each strip in half lengthwise, right side out, place it on the right side of the armhole and stitch. Turn the binding to the wrong side and topstitch it to the blouse 0.1 cm from the fold.
  7. Stitch the side seams of the blouse. Press the seams towards the back and overlock.
  8. Press the hem of the blouse to the wrong side, turn under and topstitch.
  9. Work buttonholes on the right front and sew buttons on the left front.
