Sewing Instructions

  1. Stitch the dart on the upper front piece. Trim the dart depth and overlock the raw edges. Press the dart towards the center.
  2. Finish the open front edge of the front overlay piece with a narrow hem. Overlock the bottom edge of the piece, fold under, and topstitch 0.5 cm from the edge. Form pleats along the marked lines. Secure the ends of the pleats with a stitch 0.5 cm from the top edge.
  3. Press the bias tape in half lengthwise and bind the neckline edges (overlap) of the front.
  4. Stitch the upper, lower, and front overlay pieces of the front together, forming the wrap. Overlock the seams and press towards the upper piece.
  5. Stitch the upper and lower back pieces together. Overlock the seams and press towards the upper piece.
  6. Stitch the side seams, leaving an opening for the zipper in the right side seam. Overlock the seams. Press the left seam towards the back, and press the right seam open, pressing the zipper opening flat. Insert the zipper.
  7. Bind the armhole edges and the upper back edge with bias tape, forming a strap. Adjust the strap length during a preliminary fitting. Sew the strap ends to the back. Turn under the ends of the bias tape near the zipper and secure by hand.
  8. Overlock the bottom edge of the top, fold under, and topstitch 0.5 cm from the edge.
