Sewing Instructions
- Stitch with loosely tensioned stitches 0.5 cm from the edge along the bottom edge of the FRONT PANEL. Gather in the bust area between the NOTCHES.
- Press the BIAS BINDING in half lengthwise and finish the center edge of the FRONT PANEL.
- Mark and stitch the darts on the BACK PANEL. Press the dart on the BACK PANEL towards the center.
- Stitch, overcast, and press the center seam of the BACK PANEL.
- Stitch the side and shoulder edges. Overcast the seams and press towards the BACK PANEL.
- Fold the COLLAR lengthwise with the wrong side in and stitch along the short edges with loosely tensioned stitches. Gather. Notch the corners on the FRONT PANEL at the COLLAR attachment seam. Attach the COLLAR to the neckline. Trim the seam to 0.5 cm and overcast. Cover the seam with BIAS BINDING. To do this, fold the BIAS BINDING in half and attach it from the wrong side to the seam, positioning the TRIM STRIP on the COLLAR side. Fold back the TRIM STRIP and topstitch it onto the FRONT PANEL, covering the COLLAR attachment seam.
- Stitch the plackets along the side edge. Attach the outer placket to the bottom edge of the jacket, aligning the NOTCH on the front placket with the center edge of the FRONT PANEL. Notch the seam at the ends of the stitching and overcast. Place the outer and inner plackets right sides together and finish the open edges of the placket, starting and ending the stitching at the placket attachment seam to the FRONT PANEL. Turn the placket right side out and press. Press the open edge of the inner placket under and topstitch into the attachment seam.
- Gather the bottom and cap of the SLEEVE. Attach the SLEEVE TOP to the cap. On the remaining 2 SLEEVE TOP pieces, press the seam allowance for attachment to the cap inwards. Topstitch the SLEEVE TOP from the wrong side into the attachment seam. Press the seams. Press the CUFF in half lengthwise with the wrong side in. Unfold the CUFF and stitch the side edge of the CUFF. Press open the side seam of the CUFF. Fold the CUFF in half lengthwise in the middle and press. Overcast, stitch, and press open the SLEEVE seam. Attach the CUFF with the outer side to the bottom edge of the SLEEVE. Press the seam towards the CUFF. Press under the open edge of the CUFF. For a tighter fit to the arm, attach elastic to the CUFF at the indicated marks. Topstitch the inner edge of the CUFF into the SLEEVE attachment seam.
- Set the SLEEVES into the armhole according to the NOTCHES. Overcast and press the setting seam.
