Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse FUSIBLE INTERFACING to BODICE pieces.
  2. Attach the SIDE PANEL to the middle FRONT PANEL. Overcast the SEAM ALLOWANCES and press towards the middle FRONT PANEL. Attach the FRONT PANEL FACING to the pieces. Overcast the SEAM ALLOWANCES and press towards the FACING.
  3. Stitch the center FRONT PANEL to the middle FRONT PANEL. Overcast the SEAM ALLOWANCES and press towards the middle FRONT PANEL.
  4. Attach the BACK PANEL FACING to the BACK PANEL. Overcast the SEAM ALLOWANCES and press towards the FACING.
  5. Fold the strap lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch 0.5 cm from the fold. Turn the straps right side out and press. Sew the straps to the neckline of the FRONT PANEL.
  6. Stitch the LINING pieces of the FRONT PANEL and BACK PANEL together separately. Overcast the SEAM ALLOWANCES and press. Stitch the right side seam on the LINING. Overcast the SEAM ALLOWANCES and press. Overcast the bottom edge of the LINING.
  7. Stitch the side seams of the skirt, leaving an opening for the ZIPPER in the left seam. Overcast the SEAM ALLOWANCES and press open, pressing the ZIPPER openings.
  8. Stitch the right side seam of the BODICE.
  9. Stitch the BODICE to the skirt. Overcast the SEAM ALLOWANCES and press towards the BODICE. Insert the ZIPPER. Press the seam.
  10. Try on the sundress, adjust the length of the straps. Sew the straps to the BACK PANEL.
  11. Place the BODICE and LINING right sides together. Fold back the LINING 5 mm from the edges of the concealed closure and pin to the upper edge of the dress. On the right side of the dress, fold back the SEAM ALLOWANCES along the ZIPPER and pin to the upper edge over the LINING. Stitch the upper edges. Fold the SEAM ALLOWANCES along the closure to the wrong side. Fold the LINING up and topstitch onto the seam allowance 1-2 mm from the seam. Fold the LINING to the wrong side and attach it to the ZIPPER tape. Press the pieces.
  12. Topstitch the bottom edge of the LINING into the seam joining the BODICE and the skirt.
  13. Overcast the bottom edge of the sundress, fold up, and topstitch 0.5 cm from the bottom edge.
