Introducing a women's sewing pattern for an elegant V-neck sheath dress featuring a sheer chiffon yoke with a neck strap, a shaped band at the bust line, princess seams and a center front hem slit.
This sophisticated sheath dress is perfect for a variety of occasions:
Silhouette: A close-fitting sheath silhouette that gracefully skims the body, enhanced by vertical relief seams.
Neckline & Yoke: A sheer chiffon yoke extends over the shoulders; the neckline is finished with a strap (neckband) that fastens with a button at the back neck, and the front opens in a narrow V-shaped slit at the center front seam. A shaped double band (facing) joins the yoke to the dress at the bust line.
Sleeves: Short cap sleeves formed by the chiffon yoke; armhole edges turned and topstitched.
Seaming: Princess seams on the front and back, a center front seam and a center back seam.
Closure: An invisible zipper in the center back seam up to the top of the band, plus a button and buttonhole on the neck strap.
Hem: The dress finishes at the knee with a straight hemline and includes a stylish center front slit for comfort and movement.
Back: Princess seams, center back zipper; the chiffon upper back has darts and an opening at the center back closed with a button at the neck.
Intermediate. Requires accurate sewing of vertical relief seams, invisible zipper application, and precise construction involving contrasting fabrics and facings.
For the main dress, select woven fabrics that offer structure and drape, and a lightweight, sheer fabric for the contrasting yoke:
