Cutting Plan

  • From main fabric:
  • 1. Back – 2 pieces
  • 2. Upper front bodice – 1 piece
  • 3. Lower front bodice – 1 piece
  • 4. Decorative insert – 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

  1. Stitch the insert to the upper front bodice. Serge the seam and press it towards the upper front bodice. Stitch the lower front bodice to the insert. Serge the seam and press it towards the lower front bodice.
  2. Mark and stitch the darts on the back. Press the back darts towards the center back. Mark and stitch the bust darts on the front bodice. Press the darts downwards.
  3. Stitch and serge the dress side seams. Press the dress side seams towards the back.
  4. Serge the back neckline edge, the armhole edges of the front and back, and the front neckline edge. Press the serged edges to the wrong side and topstitch.
  5. Serge the dress center back seam. Stitch and press open the dress center back seam up to the notch for the zipper. Insert an invisible zipper.
  6. Cut out the straps. Fold the straps lengthwise right sides together and stitch 0.5 cm from the fold. Turn the straps right side out and press. Sew the straps to the front neckline.
  7. Try on the dress, adjust the strap length and sew the back ends to the back.
  8. Serge the bottom edge of the dress, fold up and topstitch 1.5 cm from the bottom edge.
