Tech. Description

Paneled Asymmetrical Faux Wrap Skirt

A women's knee-length denim skirt built from curved panels, with a wrap-look front whose diagonal edge is stitched into a front slit, a flared lower back gore and a facing-finished waist.

When To Wear

  • In spring and summer with a T-shirt, shirt or fitted knit top.
  • With a cardigan or jacket and tights in autumn.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Fitted at the waist and hips, flaring towards the hem through the lower panels.

Length: About knee length.

Waist: No waistband; the top edge is finished with interfaced front and back facings, understitched 0.2 cm from the seam and hand-stitched to the zip.

Front: Asymmetric: the right side is built from a side panel, a small gore and a front gore, overlapping diagonally onto the left side with its lower front insert. The diagonal front edge is hemmed, and the front seam is stitched down to a notch, leaving an open slit below.

Back: Back panel with a curved seam to a lower bias-cut section, and a lower back gore set in for flare at the hem.

Closure: Zip in the side seam.

Finishing: All panel seams serged and pressed open, with topstitching along the curved seams; hem and front edge turned and topstitched.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Joining curved seams and gores, a bias-cut section, a side zip and a faced waist.
