Tech. Description

Faux Leather Panelled Midi Skirt

A women's A-line midi skirt in faux leather or suede, built from narrow panels and gores that fan out from a pointed yoke at the centre front and centre back. Faced waist without a waistband and a concealed zip in the left side seam.

When To Wear

  • In autumn and winter with sweaters, blouses and boots.
  • For the office with a fitted top or a short jacket.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: A-line, close to the body at the waist and hips, flaring towards the hem.

Length: Midi, below the knee.

Waist: Front and back yokes that dip to a point at the centre; darts in the back yoke. The waist edge is finished with an interfaced facing topstitched to the seam allowances.

Skirt: Each quarter is made of a side gore, side upper and side lower panels, a centre insert and a centre gore, so the seams radiate from the point of the yoke. Every panel seam is topstitched. Centre front and centre back seams pressed open.

Closure: Concealed zip in the left side seam.

Finishing: Hem overlocked and topstitched with a 1 cm allowance, or left raw.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Many shaped panels that must meet at one point, accurate topstitching on faux leather, a concealed zip and a faced waist.

Fabric Recommendations

Faux leather, faux suede.
