Tech. Description

Tunic Top with Tie Sleeve Hems and a Pocket

A women's pullover top in thin knit fabric, with a round neckline finished with a facing, long set-in sleeves drawn in at the wrist by ties in a hem casing, and a wide patch pocket across the lower front divided by a line of stitching.

When To Wear

  • Every day in spring and autumn, with jeans or trousers.
  • At home or for travel, when a soft knit top is wanted.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Straight, loose fit with bust darts; front and back each cut in one piece on the fold.

Length: Hip length.

Neckline: Round, with front and back facings joined at the shoulders, turned inside and topstitched.

Sleeves: Long set-in sleeves. The hem is turned up into a casing with two small buttonholes near the sleeve seam; a self-fabric tie, 40 × 3 cm, is threaded through and tied in a bow.

Pockets: One wide patch pocket at the lower front, cut on the fold, stitched down along the top and bottom edges, divided in two by a line of stitching down the centre, with bar tacks at the side edges.

Finishing: Seams serged; garment hem serged, turned up once and topstitched.

Level Of Difficulty

Beginner. Set-in sleeves, a neckline facing, a patch pocket and simple ties; the only fiddly step is the small buttonholes in the sleeve casings.

Fabric Recommendations

Thin knit fabrics.
