Cutter's Must

  • From main fabric:
  • Front Half – 2 pieces
  • Back Half – 2 pieces
  • Right Belt – 1 piece
  • Left Belt – 1 piece
  • Button Catch (fly shield) – 1 piece
  • Back Belt – 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse the waistband pieces (Right Belt, Left Belt, Back Belt) with fusible interfacing.
  2. Stitch the darts and press them towards the center seams. Stitch the Back Belt pieces to the Right Belt and Left Belt.
  3. Place front panels right sides together, under the slit mark, stitch the front center seam, stopping approx. 2 cm before the inseam line.
  4. Zipper closure: Press the grown-on zipper facings to the wrong side. Stitch the zipper under the edge of the seam allowance for the closure (left side) along the edge. Stitch the free zipper tape to the grown-on facing of the right half. Fold the Button Catch (fly shield) in half lengthwise and stitch the upper and lower short edges. Topstitch the grown-on zipper facing of the left half onto the Button Catch. Topstitch the right edge of the slit, catching the facing.
  5. Place one front and one back right sides together. Stitch the side seams and inseams. Press seam allowances open.
  6. Stitch one long edge of the joined waistband to the upper edge of the pants, right sides together, leaving the seam allowance for the closure protruding at the left edge of the slit. Place both pant legs right sides together, one inside the other. Stitch the crotch seam (center back seam) up to the top edge of the waistband. Press the center seam allowances open up to the curve. Press the waistband seam allowances towards the waistband. Fold the waistband in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch the front ends. Turn the waistband out, topstitch from the right side exactly in the attachment seam.
  7. Press the pant hem allowance to the inside, fold the raw edges and stitch along the edge. Fold the cuff along the marking and attach to the side and inseams.
  8. On the right end of the waistband, make a keyhole buttonhole. Sew a button to the left end.
