Sewing Instructions
- Reinforce the trouser facings and waistband with fusible interfacing (Heat-activated interfacings are ironed onto the wrong side of the piece with a hot iron).
- Trousers: Sew the front center seam below the slit mark, and also the back center seam.
- Create the "Zipper with attached fly facing" - Press the one-piece zipper facing to the wrong side: on the right - along the center front line, on the left - stopping 1 cm before the center front line (= seam allowance for the zipper). Pin the zipper, turned sideways, to the left edge of the opening, place the fly facing, folded in half with the wrong side in, on top, aligning the edges, and stitch all layers; straighten the underlap and stitch a securing line along the edge of the zipper. Pin the opening, aligning the center front lines. Attach the free zipper tape to the facing of the right side of the opening, without catching the fabric of the front trouser half. Overlock the seam allowances and from the wrong side, stitch a securing zigzag stitch along the bottom edges of the underlaps. Topstitch the right front trouser half along the zipper, catching the facing.
- Stitch the inseams and side seams. Stitch the side seams of the trouser facings. Place the facings onto the main garment right side in and face the top of the trousers; turn out and press. From the right side of the garment, topstitch along the top edge of the trousers. Press the hem allowance of the trouser bottom inwards, turn under the edges and stitch along the edge.
- Skirt: Press the seam allowances of the skirt wrap edge inwards, turn under the edges and stitch at a distance of 5-7 mm. Press the seam allowances of the upper edges of the back and side front skirt halves to the wrong side, turn under and baste. From the right side of the garment, topstitch along the top edge of the skirt.
- Create the "Waistband" - Fold the skirt waistband pieces right side in and face the upper edge and the end for the closure; turn out and press. Place the waistband, turned down, with the reinforced onto the waist edge of the skirt from the right side and stitch. Straighten the waistband, press the open edge inwards and stitch to the main garment, continuing the decorative stitch along the entire perimeter of the waistband, except for the side edge.
- Stitch the side seams of the skirt. Press the hem allowances inwards to the wrong side, turn under and baste. Topstitch the bottom of the skirt at a distance of 5-7 mm. Sew a piece of "Velcro" to the waistband. Attach the skirt to the trousers at the side seams.
