Sewing Instructions

  1. Stitch the front and back princess seams and the shoulder seams. Press the princess seam allowances towards the Front and Back.
  2. Stitch the trim onto the Fronts and the Back 0.5 cm from the princess seams.
  3. Cut the sleeve openings along the markings. Bind each opening with a bias strip; the finished binding is 0.5 cm wide. At the top of the opening (on the wrong side of the sleeve), stitch the binding diagonally.
  4. Set the sleeves into the armholes. Stitch the side seams and sleeve seams in one continuous seam.
  5. On the right front, press the cut-on facing of the concealed placket to the wrong side, then press the facing and the placket to the wrong side together. Stitch the facing along the markings.
  6. Stitch the trim onto the right front 0.5 cm from the front edge. Fold the placket out to the front edge and press.
  7. Press the cut-on facing of the left front to the wrong side and fold it in half. Edgestitch the inner side of the facing. Press the hem allowance to the wrong side and topstitch.
  8. From fabric scraps, cut a bias strip for 5 loops, stitch it and turn it into a narrow rouleau. Cut the rouleau into 5 equal pieces.
  9. Stitch the trim onto the outer Collar piece 0.5 cm from the outer edge. Fold one rouleau into a loop and baste it to the right end of the outer collar, with the loop pointing onto the collar.
  10. Stitch the Collar pieces together along the outer edges and turn right side out. Stitch the outer collar to the neckline. Turn under the inner collar and pin it over the seam. From the right side, stitch the collar along the seam.
  11. Fold the pleats at the lower edge of the sleeves, matching x to o, and baste them.
  12. Stitch the trim onto the outer Cuff pieces 0.5 cm from the markings along the rounded short ends and the outer long edge. Baste 2 loops to the rounded short end, pointing onto the cuff.
  13. Stitch each pair of Cuff pieces together along the outer edges and turn right side out. Stitch the outer cuff to the lower edge of the sleeve on the right side, catching the binding of the front edge of the opening turned to the wrong side. Turn under the inner cuff and stitch it over the seam.
  14. Make vertical buttonholes on the concealed placket along the markings. Sew flat buttons to the left front so that they sit at the top of the buttonholes. Sew buttons to the collar and cuffs to match the loops.
