Key Design Features

Silhouette: Fitted at the shoulders, flaring widely towards the hem.

Length: Tunic length with a curved hem, longer at the back. At the front, the outer front is cut up in a curve at the centre and shows the inner front below it.

Neckline: Wide scoop neckline finished with a 4 cm self-fabric bias binding.

Front: The outer front has a pleat folded and stitched down along a marked line, pressed towards the left side seam, with four buttons sewn along it. The inner front, cut on the fold from contrast fabric, has a double-turned hem. Both fronts are basted together and sewn as one piece; there is no opening.

Sleeves: Three-quarter length, one-piece set-in sleeves.

Back: One piece cut on the fold, flared.

Finishing: Hems of the back, outer front and sleeves have no hem allowance and are bound with 4 cm contrast bias binding.

Cutter's Must

If the patterns have a double contour, seam allowances are included. If the contour is single, the patterns are without seam allowances. Seam allowances: all seams 1 cm; hem allowance for the back hem, outer front hem and sleeve hem – 0 cm; hem allowance for the inner front hem – 2 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need (don't forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match! Markings on the patterns are on the right side!

From main fabric:
- Back – 1 piece (cut on fold)
- Outer Front – 1 piece
- Sleeve – 2 pieces
- Neckline bias binding – 1 bias strip, 4 cm wide, neckline length + 5 cm (cut by measurement)
From contrast fabric:
- Inner Front – 1 piece (cut on fold)
- Hem bias binding – bias strips 4 cm wide (approximate length is given on the Sleeve pattern; cut by measurement)

Sewing Instructions

Fold the Outer Front wrong sides together along the "pleat fold line" and stitch along the marked line. Press the pleat, turning the fold towards the left side seam.
Press the bottom edge of the Inner Front under by 1 cm, then another 1 cm, and topstitch.
Place the Outer Front over the Inner Front, baste them together along the edges and treat as one piece from now on.
Stitch the shoulder and side seams, press allowances towards the Back and serge.
Fold the neckline bias binding in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Place the binding on the right side of the neckline, raw edges aligned, and stitch. Clip the allowances. Turn the binding to the wrong side and topstitch along the fold to the garment. Press the seam.
Stitch the Sleeve seams, press allowances and serge. Set the sleeves into the armholes matching the notches, press allowances and serge.
Fold the contrast bias binding in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Then unfold, turn the long edges in to the center and press. Bind the lower edge of the garment and the sleeve hems.
Sew the buttons onto the Outer Front at the marked positions.
