Tech. Description

Sleeveless Scarf Tie Blouse

Introducing an elegant sleeveless blouse pattern featuring a unique shawl collar neckline that seamlessly integrates into a graceful front scarf tie detail.

When To Wear

This blouse is perfect for occasions that call for refined elegance and comfort, such as:

  • Professional Settings: Ideal as a sophisticated top under a blazer or on its own for a polished office look.
  • Smart Casual Gatherings: Perfect for brunches, luncheons, or daytime social events.
  • Evening Chic: Easily dressed up for dinner dates or summer evening outings with appropriate accessories.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: a gently tailored, sleeveless silhouette that drapes gracefully for a comfortable yet refined fit.

Neckline & Collar: Features a deep V-neck framed by a soft shawl-style collar, cut as one folded piece whose long ends form the scarf tie; the ends are gathered together at the bust by a small fabric loop and hang down the front.

Sleeves: Sleeveless design with armholes finished with bias binding, providing a comfortable and versatile wear.

Closure: Discreet invisible zipper in the left side seam for a smooth fit.

Back: a back with a center seam, shoulder darts and waist darts ensures a contoured and flattering shape.

Details: Front bust darts and waist darts contribute to the blouse's tailored fit and elegant shaping.

Length: Sits comfortably at hip length, making it versatile for tucking in or wearing untucked.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Requires skills in constructing darts, attaching a complex collar, inserting an invisible zipper, and finishing armholes with a clean bind.

Fabric Recommendations

To achieve the desired drape and elegant finish, consider lightweight blouse fabrics such as:

  • Blouse fabrics made from natural or blended fibers

Additional Supplies

  • Invisible zipper

Cutter's Must

If the patterns have a double contour, they include seam allowances. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include seam allowances. Seam allowances: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance for back and front bottom edge – 1.5 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces).

  • From main fabric:
    • Back – 2 pieces
    • Front – 1 piece
    • Collar – 1 piece on fold

Sewing Instructions

When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!

  1. On the back and front pieces, stitch the shoulder, waist, and bust darts. Press the depths of the waist and shoulder darts towards the center of the piece, and the bust darts upwards.
  2. Stitch the center back seam, press allowances to the left side and overlock.
  3. Stitch the shoulder seams, press allowances to the back and overlock.
  4. Overlock the left side seams separately. Stitch the left side seam from the armhole edge to the first mark and from the second mark to the bottom. Press allowances open, insert the invisible zipper. Stitch the right side seam, press allowances to the back and overlock.
  5. Fold the collar lengthwise in half, right sides together, and stitch the ends up to the mark "o". Clip the allowances at the mark, trim the corners, turn the collar right side out, straighten, and press. Stitch the outer layer of the collar to the neckline, clipping the allowance at the front corner; turn under the inner layer and stitch it in the ditch of the seam. Press the finished collar, positioning the stitching seam in the middle of the inner side.
  6. Cut (if not ready-made) a bias binding 4 cm wide and a length equal to the armhole length + 5 cm. Fold the bias binding lengthwise in half, right side out, and press. Place the binding with the armhole edge right sides together and stitch. Clip the allowances. Fold the binding to the wrong side and topstitch along the fold to the main piece. Press the seam.
  7. Overlock the bottom edge, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
  8. Cut a rectangle from the main fabric for the tie loop, 10x5 cm. Fold the piece lengthwise in half, right sides together, and stitch the long edge. Turn the tie loop right side out, straighten, and press. Bring the two ends of the collar tie together, wrap them with the tie loop, adjust the length, and secure.
