This made-to-measure sewing pattern presents a sophisticated sheath dress featuring an elegant overlap lapel collar, short sleeves, and distinctive asymmetrical bodice detailing.
This dress is designed for versatile styling, making it an excellent choice for:
Silhouette: A fitted sheath dress silhouette that gently skims the body, falling to knee-length.
Neckline: Features an elegant overlap lapel collar that forms a flattering V-neckline.
Bodice: Asymmetrical front bodice with a distinctive angled seam and subtle pleating or draping on the wearer's right side, accented by three decorative buttons.
Sleeves: Short, set-in sleeves that offer a polished and comfortable arm line.
Back: A clean, unadorned back with a central seam for a streamlined finish.
Length: Designed to fall gracefully at or just above the knee.
Intermediate. Requires skills in working with knit fabrics, constructing overlap collars, and precise bodice assembly with pleating details.
Choose knit fabrics with a medium degree of stretch that offer both comfort and structure:
Fabric recommendations: medium stretch knit fabric made of natural or blended fibers. Also needed: knit fusible interfacing; 3 buttons.
If the patterns have a double contour, seam allowances are included. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include seam allowances. Seam allowances: hem allowance – 2 cm, sleeve hem allowance – 1.2 cm; other seams - 0.7 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need. When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!
Tip: Knit fabric pieces are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim seam allowances to 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlocker.
