Tip: Cut pieces from knit fabrics are stitched with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim SEAM ALLOWANCES to 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity. You can also stitch pieces directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlock machine.
Sewing Instructions
- Stitch darts on the FRONT PANEL pieces, trim SEAM ALLOWANCES with an overlock machine. Lay and secure pleats according to markings. Fold the FLAP in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Attach the FLAP to the FRONT PANEL, clipping the FRONT PANEL at the corners. Start and end the stitch strictly along the marked pocket opening line. Press the faux pocket. Attach the YOKE to the FRONT PANEL. Serge SEAM ALLOWANCES and press them down.
- Place the FACING under the FLAP. Serge the three inner sides of the FACING, FRONT PANEL, and FLAP simultaneously.
- Stitch shoulder seams. Serge SEAM ALLOWANCES and press them towards the BACK PANEL. Stitch the COLLAR into a ring, press the allowance open. Fold the COLLAR in half lengthwise and press. Attach the COLLAR to the neckline. Serge the allowance.
- Set the SLEEVE into the open armhole.
- Stitch side seams, simultaneously with the SLEEVE seams. Attention: ensure that the FLAP fold does not get caught under the side seam stitching. Serge SEAM ALLOWANCES and press them towards the BACK PANEL.
- Serge the bottom edge of the garment and the SLEEVE. Press the bottom hem allowance to the wrong side and topstitch.
- Sew buttons onto the FLAP.
