Tip: Cut pieces from knit fabrics are sewn with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity. Alternatively, pieces can be sewn directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlock machine.

Sewing Instructions

1. Stitch the center edges of the BACK PANEL pieces. Overcast SEAM ALLOWANCES. Attach the BACK PANEL insert to the upper and lower BACK PANEL parts. Overcast SEAM ALLOWANCES.
2. Stitch the contoured edge of the FRONT PANEL. Overcast SEAM ALLOWANCE and press towards the center. Fold the upper insert TRIM STRIP in half lengthwise and attach to the upper edge of the upper insert. Overcast SEAM ALLOWANCE. Fold the lower insert TRIM STRIP in half lengthwise and attach to the lower edge of the lower FRONT PANEL insert. Overcast SEAM ALLOWANCE.
3. Stitch the shoulder edges. Overcast SEAM ALLOWANCES.
4. Fold the upper FRONT PANEL TRIM STRIP in half lengthwise and place it on the upper insert, securing it along the edge. Attach the upper FRONT PANEL TRIM STRIP to the TRIM STRIP. Fold the neckline BIAS BINDING right sides together and stitch along the inner and two outer sides. Turn right side out and press. Attach the BIAS BINDING to the neckline.
5. Cut a strip 5.4 cm wide, with the length indicated on the pattern for the lower FRONT PANEL (vert. trim). Fold the piece in half lengthwise right side out and topstitch onto the lower FRONT PANEL insert. Attach the lower insert to the lower FRONT PANEL. Overcast SEAM ALLOWANCE.
6. Fold the bridge in half lengthwise right sides together and stitch. Turn right side out, centering the seam. Fold the bow piece in half lengthwise and stitch along three sides, leaving an opening for turning. Trim SEAM ALLOWANCES and turn right side out. Sew the opening closed with invisible stitches.
7. Attach the FRONT PANEL insert to the upper and lower FRONT PANEL parts, inserting the bridge for the bow. Overcast SEAM ALLOWANCES.
8. Create a box pleat on the SLEEVE and secure it along the lower edge. Stitch along the SLEEVE cap between the circular marks with a loosely tensioned upper thread and gather. Fold the SLEEVE TRIM STRIP right side out and attach to the bottom of the SLEEVE. Overcast SEAM ALLOWANCE. Set the SLEEVE into the armhole.
9. Stitch the side edge simultaneously with the SLEEVE edge. Overcast SEAM ALLOWANCES.
10. Cut a lower TRIM STRIP piece 5.4 cm wide, with the length indicated on the FRONT PANEL pattern (lower trim). Stitch the short sides of the TRIM STRIP. Attach the TRIM STRIP to the lower edge. Overcast SEAM ALLOWANCE.
11. Insert the bow into the bridge.
