Key Design Features

Silhouette: Fitted sheath shaped by princess seams at the front and back.

Length: Around the knee.

Collar: Wide two-layer collar set into the neckline and lying over the shoulders; its ends cross at the left front and are wrapped with a narrow strap to form a bow, then tacked to the dress. A few pleats are laid in the collar above the centre back seam.

Sleeves: Sleeveless; armholes finished with a 4 cm bias strip folded in half and topstitched to the inside.

Front: One-piece centre front and side fronts joined by princess seams.

Closure: Invisible zipper in the left side seam.

Back: Centre back seam and princess seams; a vent at the lower centre back with a 6 cm allowance, interfaced.

Cutter's Must

If the patterns have a double contour, seam allowances are included. If the contour is single, seam allowances are not included. Seam allowances: dress hem – 3.0 cm; along the vent – 6 cm; all other seams 1 cm. Attention! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) to determine how much material you will need (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). The labels on the pattern pieces are printed on the right side. When stitching pieces, pay attention to the notches - they must match!

- Center Back – 2 pieces
- Side Back – 2 pieces
- Side Front – 2 pieces
- Center Front – 1 piece
- Collar – 2 pieces
- Strap – 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

On the left Center Back, cut 5 cm along the vertical slit edge. On both Center Back pieces, interface the vent area from the wrong side. On the right side, mark the center seam line (vent fold line). Press the left piece along the vent fold line; on the right piece, press only the right vent allowance (6 cm) to the wrong side. Align the pieces along the center seam and secure at the upper edge of the vent. Overlock the center back edge separately on each piece. Overlock the vent allowances. Stitch the center back seam from the neckline edge to the vent corner. Clip the corner of the vent allowance on the right piece. Press the center seam allowances open, press the vent allowances and secure them with machine stitching.
Stitch the Center Back to the Side Back pieces (princess seams), press seam allowances towards the center and overlock.
Stitch the Center Front to the Side Front pieces (princess seams). Clip the seam allowance at the upper notch of the left Side Front. Press seam allowances towards the side edge, overlock.
Stitch the shoulder edges, press seam allowances towards the back, overlock.
Cut a bias binding 4 cm wide and a length equal to the armhole length + 3 cm. Fold the bias binding in half lengthwise, right sides out, and press. Place the binding with the armhole edge, right sides together, and stitch. Fold the binding to the wrong side, clip the seams, and topstitch along the fold to the main piece. Press the seam.
Place the Collar pieces right sides together and stitch the ends and the outer edge between the "O" notches. Trim the seam allowances at the corners, clip at the curves and near the notches, turn the collar right side out, and press. Stitch the outer collar to the neckline, turn under the inner side and topstitch into the stitching seam.
Fold the Strap in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch the long side. Turn right side out, press, centering the seam. Overlock the short sides. Wrap the Strap around the collar ends, forming a bow. Attach the Strap to the dress, straighten the collar ends and sew to the dress with a few stitches. Create and secure several pleats on the collar above the center back seam.
Overlock the left side edges separately. Stitch the left side edge, leaving the zipper opening unstitched. Press open the seam allowances. Insert the zipper. Stitch the right side edge, press seam allowances towards the back and overlock.
Overlock the bottom edge of the garment. Fold to the wrong side, press and hem with blind stitches.
