Fabric recommendations: dress fabrics made from natural or blended fibers. Also needed: fusible interfacing; concealed zipper.
CUTTER'S MUST
IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm; hem allowance – 2 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90cm to 150cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!
- From main fabric:
- Upper center back part - 2 pieces
- Upper side back part - 2 pieces
- Lower center back part - 2 pieces
- Lower side back part – 2 pieces
- Lower side back part 1 – 2 pieces
- Upper center front part – 1 piece
- Upper side front part - 2 pieces
- Lower center front part – 1 piece on fold
- Lower side front part – 2 pieces
- Lower side front part 1 – 2 pieces
- Neckline facing front — 1 piece
- Neckline facing back – 2 pieces
- From fusible interfacing:
- Neckline facing front — 1 piece
- Neckline facing back – 2 pieces
Sewing Instructions
- Reinforce pieces with fusible interfacing.
- Stitch upper and lower center back parts. Overlock allowances and press upwards.
- Attach lower side back part 1 to lower side back part. Overlock allowances and press upwards. Stitch upper and lower side back parts. Overlock allowances and press upwards. Stitch back princess seam. Overlock allowances and press towards the center.
- Overlock center back edges separately. Stitch center back seam from zipper mark to slit mark, press allowances open. Insert zipper.
- Stitch upper and lower center front parts. Overlock allowances and press upwards.
- Attach lower side front part 1 to lower side part. Overlock allowances and press upwards. Stitch upper and lower side front parts. Overlock allowances and press upwards. Stitch front princess seam. Overlock allowances and press towards the center.
- Stitch shoulder seams. Overlock allowances and press towards the back.
- Cut (if not ready-made) a bias binding 4 cm wide, length equal to armhole length + 4 cm. Fold bias binding in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Place binding on armhole edge right side up and stitch, fold binding to wrong side and topstitch along the fold onto the main piece.
- Stitch side seams. Overlock allowances and press towards the back.
- Stitch shoulder seams of neckline facings, press allowances open. Overlock outer edge. Place facing on garment right side down and stitch neckline edge. Clip allowances, turn facing to wrong side and press. Secure facing to main garment at shoulder seams and zipper tape.
- Overlock hem allowance of dress, press to wrong side and topstitch.
