Tech. Description

Cap Sleeve Peplum Blouse

Introducing a stylish women's blouse pattern featuring a fitted bodice, elegant boat neckline, and a playful peplum with inverted box pleats at the front.

When To Wear

This versatile blouse is designed for various occasions, making it an ideal choice for:

  • Professional Settings: The structured design and polished silhouette are perfect for office wear or business meetings.
  • Smart Casual Gatherings: Easily dressed up or down for lunches, semi-formal events, or sophisticated daywear.
  • Special Occasions: Paired with a skirt or tailored trousers, it offers a refined yet comfortable option for celebratory events or dinners.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: A fitted bodice gracefully transitions into a flattering peplum, creating an elegant silhouette.

Neckline: A graceful boat (or bateau) neckline provides a sophisticated frame for the décolletage.

Sleeves: Short cap sleeves offer subtle shoulder coverage and a neat, tailored finish.

Waist: The natural waistline is subtly accentuated, flowing into the structured peplum.

Hem: The peplum features two prominent inverted box pleats at the front, adding volume and a stylish architectural detail.

Back: The back is smooth and unadorned, ensuring a clean, streamlined look.

Closure: Designed as a pull-on garment, with no visible front or back closure, creating a seamless aesthetic.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Involves precise pleat construction, accurate application of bias binding for the neckline & armholes, and careful fitting of the bodice.

Fabric Recommendations

Choose structured blouse fabrics that hold shape well to enhance the peplum and pleats:

  • Dense blouse fabrics made from natural or blended fibers

CUTTER'S MUST

IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, THEY INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, THE PATTERNS DO NOT INCLUDE SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance – 2.0 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST OF ALL, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  • From main fabric:
    • Back – 1 piece with fold
    • Front – 1 piece with fold

Sewing Instructions

  1. Stitch the right shoulder seam. Finish the allowance and press it towards the back.
  2. Cut (if not ready-made) a bias binding 4 cm wide and a length equal to the neckline length + 4 cm. Fold the bias binding in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Place the binding with the neckline edge, right side facing, and stitch. Clip the allowances. Fold the binding to the wrong side and topstitch along the fold to the main piece. Press the seam.
  3. Stitch the left shoulder seam. Finish the allowance and press it towards the back.
  4. Stitch the front pleat from the top to the mark. Form a box pleat on the front and press. Stitch a horizontal bar tack at the mark level, securing the pleat depths.
  5. Cut (if not ready-made) a bias binding 4 cm wide and a length equal to the armhole length + 4 cm. Fold the bias binding in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Place the binding with the armhole edge, right side facing, and stitch. Clip the allowances. Fold the binding to the wrong side and topstitch along the fold to the main piece. Press the seam.
  6. Stitch the side seams, press the allowances towards the back and finish.
  7. Finish the hem allowance, press it to the wrong side, and hem with blind stitches.
