Fabric & Materials

FABRIC RECOMMENDATIONS: denim fabrics made of natural or blended fibers. YOU WILL ALSO NEED: fusible interfacing; 2 buttons. IF THE PATTERNS HAVE A DOUBLE CONTOUR, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE INCLUDED. IF THE CONTOUR IS SINGLE, SEAM ALLOWANCES ARE NOT INCLUDED. SEAM ALLOWANCES: all seams 1 cm. Hem allowance for the bottom of the lower back part - 3.0 cm. ATTENTION! FIRST, PRINT OUT THE PAPER PATTERNS AND LAY THEM OUT ON THE FABRIC WIDTH (fabric width can be from 90 cm to 150 cm) TO DETERMINE HOW MUCH MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED (do not forget to account for paired and symmetrical pieces). WHEN STITCHING PIECES, PAY ATTENTION TO THE NOTCHES - THEY MUST MATCH!

  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Facing for lower front part – 2 pieces
    • Front facing – 2 pieces
    • Back neckline facing – 1 piece
    • Back armhole facing – 2 pieces
    • Front armhole facing – 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces.
  2. Stitch the center back seam, press allowances to the left side, serge. Topstitch along the seam at 0.5 – 0.7 cm. Stitch the back princess seams, press allowances towards the center, serge. Topstitch along the seam at 0.5 – 0.7 cm.
  3. Attach the yoke to the back, press allowances upwards, serge. Topstitch along the seam at 0.5 – 0.7 cm. Attach the armhole facings to the back, press allowances towards the facings. Topstitch along the seam at 0.5 – 0.7 cm. Stitch the upper and lower back parts, press allowances upwards, serge. Topstitch along the seam at 0.5 – 0.7 cm.
  4. Stitch the side and lower front parts, press allowances upwards, serge. Stitch the center front part and the lower part facing, press allowances upwards, serge. Stitch the princess seams of the upper front part, press allowances towards the center, serge. Topstitch along the seam at 0.5 – 0.7 cm. Attach the armhole facings to the front, press allowances towards the facings. Topstitch along the seam at 0.5 – 0.7 cm.
  5. Stitch the collar edge, press allowances open. Stitch the shoulder seams, clip at the corner, press allowances towards the back and serge. Attach the collar to the neckline, press allowances open.
  6. Stitch the collar seam on the front facing pieces, press allowances open. Stitch, clip at the corner, and press open the shoulder seams of the back neckline facing and the front facing. Attach the lower front facings to the front facings, press allowances open. Serge the outer edge. Attach the collar to the facing neckline, press allowances open.
  7. Place the front facing on the right side of the front, right side down, pin and stitch the front edges and the collar edge. Clip allowances at curves. Turn the front edges right side out, straighten seams, press. Topstitch the inner facing of the lower front part into the seam of the outer facing. Topstitch along the ends and the collar edge at 0.5 – 0.7 cm from the edge.
  8. Serge the lower edge of the back. Stitch the side seams, wrapping the front with the hem allowance of the back. Press allowances towards the back, serge. Turn the pieces right side out, press. Topstitch the hem allowance of the back onto the main piece.
  9. Stitch the side and shoulder seams of the inner armhole facings. Serge the outer edge. Place the facings with the garment right sides together and stitch the armhole edge. Clip allowances, turn facings to the wrong side, topstitch into the seam of the outer facings.
  10. On the right front, serge buttonholes, and on the left front, sew on buttons.
