CUTTER'S MUST

  • From main fabric:
    • Center back piece – 2 pieces
    • Side back piece – 2 pieces
    • Side front piece – 2 pieces
    • Center front piece – 2 pieces
    • Collar stand - 2 pieces
    • Front facing – 2 pieces
    • Back neckline facing – 1 piece
  • From fusible interfacing:
    • Collar stand - 1 piece
    • Front facing – 2 pieces
    • Back neckline facing – 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse interfacing to the designated pieces.
  2. On the back, stitch the shoulder darts, press the dart allowances towards the center. Stitch the back princess seams, press allowances towards the center and serge. Stitch the center back seam, press allowances to the left side and serge.
  3. Stitch the front princess seams, press allowances towards the center and serge.
  4. Stitch the shoulder and side seams, press allowances towards the back and serge.
  5. Fold the collar stand pieces right sides together and stitch along the ends and outer edge. Clip curves and trim corners. Turn the collar stand right side out, shape, and press. Attach the collar stand to the neckline.
  6. Stitch the shoulder seams of the back neckline facing and front facings, press allowances open. Serge the outer edge.
  7. Place the front facings right sides together with the garment and stitch along the front edges, the neckline edge (the collar stand is positioned between the facing and the main garment), and the lower corner of the front edge. Clip curves, trim corners, and turn the pieces right side out.
  8. Cut (if not ready-made) a bias binding 4 cm wide and a length equal to the armhole length + 6 cm. Fold the bias binding in half lengthwise, right side out, and press. Place the binding right side together with the armhole edge and stitch. Fold the binding to the wrong side, clip allowances, and topstitch along the fold to the main piece. Press the seam.
  9. Serge the bottom edge of the garment, press to the wrong side, and topstitch.
  10. On the right front, make buttonholes; on the left front, sew on buttons.
