Tech. Description

Empire Waist Layered Chiffon Bridal Dress

An elegant bridal gown featuring a delicate lace bodice, a flattering empire waistline, and a flowing, multi-layered chiffon skirt.

When To Wear

This elegant gown is designed for celebratory and special occasions, making it a perfect choice for:

  • Weddings & Civil Ceremonies: The classic bridal silhouette and luxurious fabrics are ideal for a memorable day.
  • Formal Engagements & Receptions: A sophisticated choice for pre-wedding celebrations or elegant evening events.
  • Destination & Beach Weddings: The light, flowing chiffon makes it suitable for warmer climates and outdoor venues.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Elegant empire waist gown with a graceful, flowing A-line skirt.

Bodice: Fitted bodice design with a gathered under-bust detail and a delicate lace overlay on the upper portion.

Neckline: Straight, gentle scoop neckline across the bust.

Waistline: High empire waist defined by a smooth band under the bust.

Skirt: Full-length, multi-layered skirt consisting of two sheer chiffon outer layers and a soft satin lining layer, creating graceful movement and drape.

Straps: Fine spaghetti straps offer delicate shoulder support.

Closure: Invisible zipper closure centrally placed in the back seam.

Embellishment: A romantic decorative rose adorns the center front of the empire waistline.

Level Of Difficulty

Advanced. Requires careful handling of delicate fabrics, multi-layer construction, precise finishing techniques like French seams, and zipper insertion.

Fabric Recommendations

For the best drape and appearance, we recommend:

  • Lace fabric (for bodice overlay)
  • Silk satin (for bodice base and skirt lining)
  • Chiffon (for skirt overlay, straps, waist band, and decorative elements)

Additional Supplies

  • Zipper
  • 3 decorative flowers (chiffon roses recommended)
  • Fusible interfacing

Fabric & Materials

Fabric recommendations: LACE FABRIC FOR BODICE; SILK SATIN; CHIFFON. Also needed: ZIPPER, 3 decorative flowers, FUSIBLE INTERFACING.

CUTTER'S MUST

If the patterns have a double contour, they include SEAM ALLOWANCES. If the contour is single, the patterns do not include SEAM ALLOWANCES. SEAM ALLOWANCES: Seam allowance for the CENTER BACK SEAM (FOR ZIPPER INSERTION) of the garment - 2 cm. Other seams - 1 cm. ATTENTION! First, print out the paper patterns and lay them out on the fabric width (fabric width should be at least 140 cm) to determine how much material you will need. When stitching pieces, pay attention to the NOTCHES - they must match! Try to observe the GRAIN LINE direction.

  • From SATIN:
    • Center back 3rd bottom layer – 2 pieces
    • Side back 3rd bottom layer – 2 pieces
    • Front bottom part 3rd bottom layer – 1 piece
    • All BODICE pieces – RECOMMENDED FOR BODICE AND AS LINING
  • From thin LACE FABRIC:
    • All BODICE pieces
  • From FUSIBLE INTERFACING:
    • All BODICE pieces
  • From CHIFFON:
    • Two top layers of front and back panels
    • Lapel along the top neckline – 1 piece
    • Underbust band – 3 pieces
    • Straps – 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

  1. All FRONT and BACK pieces consist of 3 LAYERS.
  2. All skirt layers are stitched together along all seams up to the notches at the hip line (from the top to the notches), then layer by layer (this operation prevents unsightly shifting on transparent CHIFFON along side and other seams).
  3. ZIPPER in the center back seam.
  4. The ends of the CHIFFON lapel and the underbust band from the notches are finished with a clean edge using a French seam (a thin edge seam with an enclosed raw edge) or a narrow zigzag stitch.
  5. Decorate the dress with decorative CHIFFON roses.
