Sewing Instructions

  1. ZIPPER POCKETS IN THE RELIEF SEAM. Fuse fusible interfacing to the pocket area on the front panel. Stitch the side panel to the front panel, leaving the pocket opening unstitched. Clip the seam allowances at the corners. Press the seam towards the front panel, and press the pocket opening flat. Stitch the zipper together with the small pocket bag to the front panel. Stitch the other edge of the zipper together with the large pocket bag to the front side panel. Stitch the pocket bags together. Make bar tacks at the pocket opening and topstitch. The edges of the pocket bags should be caught in the zipper insertion seam and extend to the bottom hemline.
  2. GARMENT ASSEMBLY. Stitch the side panels to the back panel. Topstitch the attachment seams. Stitch the shoulder seams. Topstitch the shoulder seam on the back panel. Stitch the side seams. Stitch the hood parts together. Topstitch the hood along the center part. Insert the hood into the neckline. Install eyelets on the hood according to markings.
  3. LINING. Stitch the vest lining. Stitch the hood lining parts and join them to the hood facing. Insert the hood lining into the lining neckline.
  4. ZIPPER CLOSURE. Place one half of the zipper closure with the garment edge right sides together (teeth facing away from the edge). Finish the edges of the garment and hood with the lining, simultaneously inserting the zipper closure. Turn the garment right side out.
  5. Finish the armholes with the lining and topstitch.
  6. On the bottom hem allowance, overcast buttonholes for the cord. Press the bottom hem allowance, turning up 1cm first, then 3.5cm. Topstitch the bottom of the garment.
  7. Topstitch the edges and hood of the vest.
  8. Press the finished vest.
  9. Insert elastic cord into the hood and bottom of the vest.
