Fabric Recommendations

  • Well-draping knit fabrics with medium to high stretch
  • Knits made from natural or blended fibers

Additional Supplies

No additional notions are required.

Cutter's Must

  • From main fabric:
  • Back – 2 pieces
  • Front Yoke – 1 piece
  • Upper Front – 1 piece
  • Lower Front – 1 piece

Tip: Knit fabric pieces are sewn with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim seam allowances to 0.8 cm. The hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle or coverstitch machine to maintain elasticity. Alternatively, pieces can be sewn directly on a 3- or 4-thread overlocker.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Stitch the center back seam of the back. Press seam allowances to the left and serge.
  2. On the Upper Front, run a line of loose gathering stitches along the yoke seam edge and gather. Stitch the Front Yoke, press seam allowances towards the yoke and serge.
  3. On the Upper Front, run loose gathering stitches from the right armhole edge to the mark and gather to the length of the corresponding edge (armhole to mark) on the Lower Front. On the Lower Front, run loose gathering stitches from the mark to the side edge and gather to the length of the corresponding edge (mark to side edge) on the Upper Front. Stitch the Upper Front and Lower Front together, press seam allowances and serge.
  4. Stitch the shoulder and side seams, press seam allowances towards the back and serge.
  5. Serge the bottom edge of the garment, armhole edges, and neckline. Press to the wrong side and topstitch.
