Sewing Instructions
- Stitch the princess seams on the front and back. Overlock the seam allowances and press them towards the center front and center back respectively.
- On the left Center Back, trim 5 cm off the vertical edge of the vent extension. Fuse interfacing to the vent area on the wrong side of both Center Back pieces. On the right side, mark the center back seam line (the vent fold line). Press the left piece along the vent fold line; on the right piece, press only the right vent allowance (6 cm) to the wrong side. Align the pieces along the center back seam and baste them together along the top edge of the vent. Overlock the center back edge of each piece separately, including the vent edges. Stitch the center back seam from the zipper notch down to the vent. Clip the corner of the vent allowance on the right piece. Press the center back seam allowances open, press the vent allowances and secure them with a line of machine stitching. Insert the concealed zipper from the top edge down to the notch.
- Stitch the side and shoulder seams. Press the seam allowances towards the back and overlock.
- Cut a bias strip 4 cm wide and equal to the length of the neckline. Fold the bias strip in half lengthwise, wrong sides together, and press. Place the binding on the neckline edge on the right side and stitch, then turn the binding to the wrong side, clip the seam allowances and topstitch along the fold onto the dress. Press the seam. Hand-stitch the ends of the binding to the zipper tape.
- Stitch the sleeve seam. Press the seam and overlock. Set the sleeve into the armhole, matching the notches. Press the seam and overlock.
- Press the hem allowances of the dress and sleeves to the wrong side, overlock, and hem with blind stitches.
