Tailored Tie-Waist Dress
This women's sewing pattern creates an elegant, tailored dress with a flattering crossover (mock wrap) front, a sophisticated shawl collar, a tie waistband and a graceful flared gored skirt.
When To Wear
This dress is designed for refined occasions, making it an ideal choice for:
- Formal & Cocktail Events: Its distinguished silhouette and elegant drape make it perfect for semi-formal gatherings and celebrations.
- Professional Settings: a chic and polished option for business events or a sophisticated office wardrobe.
- Special Occasions: Ideal for weddings, anniversaries, or any event where a distinguished and feminine look is desired.
Key Design Features
Silhouette: a fitted body with a waistband and a fitted lower bodice section through the hips, flowing into a flared gored skirt at about knee length.
Neckline & Collar: Features a distinguished shawl collar that continues up the back neck and drapes elegantly to the crossover front; soft pleats at the upper front.
Closure: the crossover upper fronts are stitched together at the lower edge (mock wrap); the dress closes with an invisible zipper at the center back, running from the top of the collar.
Sleeves: Long set-in sleeves with pleats at the hem, faced and topstitched with elastic thread for a gathered cuff effect.
Waist: Emphasized by a wide waistband stitched to the back along the zipper, with long ends that tie at the front.
Skirt: The skirt is formed by 8 gores, creating a graceful, flowing flare.
Back: a clean, tailored back with a discreet invisible zipper opening for a smooth fit.
Level Of Difficulty
Intermediate. Requires skills in shawl collar attachment, pleating, invisible zipper insertion, and accurate shaping of multiple skirt panels.
