Fitted Skirt Gathered Front Slit

1. FRONT SKIRT HALF – 1 QTY
2. SIDE PANEL (front) – 2 QTY
3. SIDE PANEL (front) – 2 QTY
4. BACK PANEL – 2 QTY
5. TRIM STRIP – 4 QTY
6. Waistband – 1 QTY
• From LINING:
1. SIDE PANEL (back) – 2 QTY
2. SIDE PANEL (front) – 2 QTY
3. FRONT PANEL – 1 QTY
4. BACK PANEL – 2 QTY
• FROM FUSIBLE INTERFACING: Waistband. The front and back LINING pieces are cut according to the main fabric pieces.

Sewing Instructions

1. On the TRIM STRIP pieces, press one long side 1 cm inwards. Stitch the unpressed long edge of the TRIM STRIP to the shaped edge of the FRONT PANEL and BACK PANEL, placing the TRIM STRIP right side up on the right side of the piece. Seam allowance 0.7 cm. The length of the TRIM STRIP is slightly longer than the length of the shaped edges. Trim excess TRIM STRIP at the end of the work before attaching the waistband.
2. Along the shaped edges of the side BACK PANEL and FRONT PANEL, sew a basting stitch with loosely tensioned stitches and gather.
3. Stitch the front and back shaped edges. Press the SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the center of the FRONT PANEL and center of the BACK PANEL respectively and serge. Topstitch the pressed edge of the TRIM STRIP onto the BACK PANEL and FRONT PANEL.
4. Serge the center edges of the BACK PANEL. Stitch the pieces between the NOTCHES. Press the SEAM ALLOWANCES open. Insert the ZIPPER.
5. Stitch, serge, and press the LINING pieces. Along the center edge of the LINING, stitch only the short section between the NOTCHES. Press the SEAM ALLOWANCE open and serge. Stitch the SEAM ALLOWANCES for the closure to the ZIPPER tape. Secure the LINING to the garment along the upper edge.
6. Reinforce the waistband with FUSIBLE INTERFACING. Press the waistband in half lengthwise, wrong sides together. Stitch the outer side of the waistband to the upper edge of the skirt, simultaneously finishing the waistband corners. Fold the inner edge of the waistband inwards and topstitch into the waistband attachment seam. Serge the buttonhole and sew on the button.
7. Serge the lower edge of the skirt on the main garment. Fold, press, and topstitch onto the skirt with a blind stitch. Serge the lower edge of the LINING, fold 1.5 cm and topstitch.
8. Turn the skirt inside out. Secure the main fabric pieces and LINING along the center seam, shifting the LINING fabric slightly upwards. Fold the LINING edges and sew them to the sides of the slit.
