Puffed Sleeve Wrap Dress
Introducing a women's sewing pattern for a chic knit dress with a crossover (faux wrap) bodice, elegant puffed sleeves, a contrast band under the bust, and a pleated front skirt finished with a distinctive contrast hem band.
When To Wear
This dress is ideal for a variety of occasions, offering both style and comfort:
- Daytime & Casual Chic: Perfect for brunches, garden parties, or elevated everyday wear.
- Semi-Formal Events: a sophisticated choice for luncheons, professional gatherings, or evening receptions.
- Transitional Seasons: The sleeves and midi length make it suitable for spring, cooler summer evenings, or early autumn.
Key Design Features
Silhouette: An A-line dress with a raised (empire) seam under the bust, fitted through the bodice and flaring gently to a below-the-knee hem.
Neckline: Elegant V-neck crossover bodice: the right front overlaps the left and both are stitched into the seam under the bust (not an opening wrap). The front bodice pieces are pleated and edged with diagonal contrast trim strips; the neckline is bound with knit tape.
Sleeves: Short, puffed sleeves gathered at the cap and at the hem into a contrast cuff band.
Waist: Defined by a contrast inset band under the bust on the front and back, creating a striking and flattering silhouette.
Skirt: The front skirt is laid in pleats for movement and volume; the back skirt is smooth.
Hem: Accented with a contrast hem band made of two strips on the front and back for a stylish finish.
Closure: An invisible zipper in the left side seam ensures a smooth line and easy wear; the upper back has a center back seam.
Level Of Difficulty
Intermediate. Requires confident sewing skills, including working with knit fabrics, constructing a crossover bodice, setting in puffed sleeves, and precise application of contrast trims.

- Medium or low stretch knit fabrics made from natural or blended fibers
