Tech. Description

Silk Wrap Lounge Dress with Contrast Trim Sleeves

Introducing a relaxed and elegant women's lounge dress featuring a classic wrap-front design, wide kimono sleeves, and chic contrast trim details.

When To Wear

This versatile lounge dress is perfect for creating a relaxed yet sophisticated look, making it an ideal choice for:

  • Luxurious Lounging: Ideal for comfortable and stylish wear around the home.
  • Resort & Vacation Styling: A chic cover-up or lightweight dress for travel and relaxation.
  • Intimate Occasions: A sophisticated and flattering garment for getting ready or romantic evenings.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: A relaxed, loose-fitting wrap dress with an elasticated waist for gentle shaping and comfort.

Neckline: Features a deep V-neck wrap front that extends to a corresponding V-back, both elegantly finished with contrast bias trim.

Closure: A true wrap-front design secured with an adjustable side tie for a customizable and flattering fit.

Sleeves: Wide, short kimono-style sleeves provide a relaxed drape and are edged with refined contrast bias trim.

Waist: An elasticated waistline gathers the fabric subtly, defining the silhouette without restricting movement.

Length: Designed to be a short, above-the-knee length, offering ease and a contemporary feel.

Details: All key edges, including the neckline, sleeve openings, and front opening, are accentuated with elegant contrast bias binding.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Requires confident sewing skills, particularly for the precise application of bias binding and the neat insertion of elastic for a professional finish.

Fabric Recommendations

Choose soft, draping fabrics with a luxurious feel for the best results:

  • Silk
  • Satin (silk satin, polyester satin)
  • Rayon/Viscose blends
  • Charmeuse

Additional Supplies

  • Contrast bias binding (approximate length indicated on back sleeve pattern piece)
  • Elastic tape (length based on waist circumference plus 12cm)

CUTTER'S MUST

  • From main fabric:
  • 1. BACK SKIRT HALF – 1 QTY
  • 2. BACK PANEL SLEEVE – 2 QTY
  • 3. FRONT PANEL SLEEVE - 2 QTY
  • 4. FRONT SKIRT HALF - 2 QTY

Sewing Instructions

  1. Press the BIAS BINDING in half lengthwise, right side out, and bind the BACK PANEL neckline edge.
  2. Stitch the upper edge of the SLEEVE, press the SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the FRONT PANEL and overcast. Press the BIAS BINDING in half lengthwise, right side out, and bind the lower edge of the SLEEVE.
  3. Overcast the FRONT PANEL placket edge, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
  4. Attach the FRONT SKIRT HALF to the FRONT PANEL SLEEVE, ending the stitch exactly at the marked side seam allowance. Clip the SLEEVE allowance at the end of the stitch, press the seam allowances upwards and overcast. Press the BIAS BINDING in half lengthwise, right side out, and bind the FRONT PANEL neckline edge, simultaneously processing the neckline ties and the tie on the right FRONT PANEL.
  5. Attach the BACK SKIRT HALF to the BACK PANEL SLEEVE, ending the stitch exactly at the marked side seam allowance. Clip the SLEEVE allowance at the end of the stitch, press the seam allowances upwards and overcast.
  6. From BIAS BINDING, make a tie approximately 40 cm long. Stitch the lower edge of the SLEEVE simultaneously with the side edge, inserting the tie into the left side seam. Press and overcast the SEAM ALLOWANCES.
  7. Overcast the hem allowance of the garment, press to the wrong side and topstitch.
  8. Topstitch elastic tape, equal in length to the waist circumference plus 12 cm, onto the seam allowance of the attachment of the BACK SKIRT HALF and FRONT SKIRT HALF, stretching it.
