Sewing Instructions
Tip: You can cut the FRONT PANEL insert from a fabric with a border print. Otherwise, the upper edge should either be serged with a dense stitch or finished with a hemmed seam. In the latter case, the FRONT PANEL insert should be cut with a SEAM ALLOWANCE along the upper edge.
- Stitch with loosely tensioned stitches along the armhole edges of the FRONT PANEL insert at a distance of 0.8 cm from the edge and gather to the specified amount.
- Stitch with loosely tensioned stitches along the concave edge of the FRONT PANEL at a distance of 0.8 cm from the edge and gather. Attach the FRONT PANEL insert to the FRONT PANEL, press the SEAM ALLOWANCE upwards and serge.
- Stitch the side edges. Press the SEAM ALLOWANCES towards the BACK PANEL and serge.
- Serge the SEAM ALLOWANCE of the upper edge of the BACK PANEL and FRONT PANEL. Fold the SEAM ALLOWANCE to the wrong side, insert elastic (approximate length indicated on the BACK PANEL pattern piece) between it and the main fabric, and topstitch with a zigzag stitch, stretching the elastic to the length of the upper edge.
- Cut a TRIM STRIP from the main fabric, 4 cm wide and the length indicated on the BACK PANEL piece. Press the longitudinal and transverse SEAM ALLOWANCES to the wrong side, place on the right side of the garment according to the markings, and topstitch along the longitudinal sides, leaving the short sides unstitched. Thread a SATIN ribbon through the TRIM STRIP.
- Finish the bottom edge with a narrow rolled hem.
- Sew on the straps according to the sketch.
