Introducing a women's sewing pattern for an elegant blouse featuring a softly gathered neckline, a distinctive shoulder yoke, and chic voluminous sleeves.

When To Wear

This blouse is a versatile choice for various settings, offering both comfort and sophisticated style for:

  • Casual Chic: Pair with jeans or smart trousers for an elevated everyday look.
  • Office & Professional: Ideal for work environments, providing a polished yet comfortable silhouette.
  • Evening & Social Gatherings: Its elegant drape and distinctive sleeves make it perfect for dinner parties or events.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Loose-fitting through the body with a relaxed, comfortable drape.

Neckline: Softly gathered round neckline, finished with bias binding and featuring a delicate button-and-loop closure at the back.

Shoulder Yoke: Distinctive front and back shoulder yokes create a smooth transition from the gathered neckline, integrating seamlessly with the sleeves and body panels.

Sleeves: Voluminous sleeves are integrated into the shoulder yoke, gathered at the cuff with elastic for a blouson effect at the wrist.

Back: Features a center back seam with a button-and-loop closure at the neckline.

Hem: Straight hemline on the main body designed for easy finishing, while sleeve cuffs are finished with a delicate rolled hem.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Requires confident sewing skills including neat gathering, bias binding application, and elastic insertion techniques.

  • Fabrics made from blended fibers (e.g., poly-chiffon, rayon challis)

Additional Supplies

  • Bias binding for neckline
  • Hat elastic
  • 1 button

Sewing Instructions

  1. Stitch the waist darts on the BACK PANEL and FRONT PANEL. Press the darts towards the center of the piece.
  2. Stitch the shoulder darts on the BACK YOKE. Press the darts towards the center back seam.
  3. On the neckline of the FRONT PANEL, along the marked lines, create pleats and sew a securing stitch 0.5 cm from the neckline edge.
  4. Stitch the shoulder edges of the BACK YOKE and FRONT YOKE. Serge the seam and press towards the back.
  5. Attach the SLEEVES to the BACK PANEL and FRONT PANEL along the armhole line. Serge the seams and press towards the SLEEVE. Sew a gathering stitch with loosely tensioned stitches along the upper edge of the SLEEVE and gather.
  6. Attach the yokes to the BACK PANEL, FRONT PANEL, and SLEEVE. Serge the seam and press upwards.

  8. Stitch the SLEEVE edge and the side edge in one continuous seam. Serge the seams and press towards the back.
  9. Stitch the center back edge from the fastener mark downwards. Press the seams open and serge.
  10. Finish the neckline with BIAS BINDING, forming a loop for the fastener at the back. Sew a button to the other side of the fastener.
