Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse interfacing to the Back Facing, Front Right Facing and Front Left Facing pieces, and the Button Catch. Fuse the pocket opening with a 1 cm wide fusible interfacing strip.
  2. Stitch the side edges of the front and back facings. Press the side seams of the facings open.
  3. Mark and stitch the darts on the Back Half pieces. Press the darts towards the center. Overlock the center back edge. Stitch the center back seam and press open.
  4. Place the Pocket Bag on the Front Half, right sides together, and stitch the pocket opening. Fold the Pocket Bag to the wrong side and press. Topstitch along the pocket opening 0.5 cm from the edge and press. Place the Front Half on the Side Part, matching the marking that defines the pocket opening. Stitch and overlock the pocket bag. Baste the Side Part to the Front Half along the upper and side edges with a 1 cm seam.
  5. From the left Front Half, cut off the extended fly, leaving a 1 cm seam allowance along the center seam. Overlock the center front edge and the fly edge.
  6. Stitch the center front seam of the Front Halves, starting at the end of the extended fly. Press the extended fly to the wrong side. Align the zipper with the center edge of the left half and stitch. Stitch the free zipper tape to the extended fly of the right half. Topstitch along the marked line on the right Front Half. Fold the Button Catch (fly shield) in half lengthwise, wrong sides together, and stitch the short bottom edge and the long edges. Overlock the open edges of the Button Catch. Stitch the Button Catch to the zipper seam on the left half. Bartack the end of the fly on the right side of the pants. On the wrong side, join the bottom ends of the extended fly and the Button Catch.
  7. Stitch, press open and overlock the side seams, leaving the slits unstitched. Stitch, overlock and press the inseams.
  8. Place the facing pieces right sides together and stitch the upper edge. Turn the facings right side out and press. Understitch the seam allowance to the inner facing 0.2 cm from the seam. Overlock the lower edge of the inner facings.
  9. Fold the Belt-Loop strip in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch 0.5–0.7 cm from the edges. Turn it out, position the seam at the fold and press. Cut the strip into belt loops and mark their placement. Stitch the belt loops to the lower edge of the outer facing. Stitch the facings to the upper edge of the pants, matching the side seams. Stitch the corners of the facings. Trim the seam allowances at the corners, turn out and press. Stitch the overlocked edge of the inner facing in the ditch of the facing seam. Topstitch the belt loops to the upper edge of the facings.
  10. Overlock the hem allowance and press it to the wrong side. Fold the allowance back onto the right side of the pants and stitch across the slit edge. Turn the corner out and press. Secure the hem allowance with fusible web. Make buttonholes on the right facing and sew buttons on the left.
