Tech. Description

Tie Front Blouse with Flared Sleeves

Introducing a chic women's blouse pattern featuring a unique tie-front closure, flowing silhouette, and elegantly flared sleeves.

When To Wear:

This stylish blouse is perfect for warmer weather and relaxed settings, making it an excellent choice for:

  • Casual Gatherings: Ideal for brunches, garden parties, or relaxed social events.
  • Resort & Vacation Wear: a breathable and chic option for travel and sunny destinations.
  • Everyday Elegance: Elevates casual ensembles for a comfortable yet polished daily look.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: a relaxed, flowing silhouette that drapes gracefully over the body.

Neckline & Closure: a deep V-neckline; the self-lined bodice fronts extend into ties that knot at the raised waistline, and the blouse falls open below the tie.

Sleeves: Three-quarter-length bell sleeves that flare widely towards the hem, adding drama and movement.

Hem: a flared lower part (peplum) joined at a raised waistline seam, open at the front with angled ends, falling to hip length; edges finished with a narrow rolled hem.

Back: a bodice shaped with darts and a raised waistline seam joining the flared Lower Back.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Requires skills in handling delicate fabrics, easing sleeves, and precise construction of a double-layer tie-front and faced edges.

Fabric Recommendations

Choose lightweight fabrics with good drape to best showcase the flowing silhouette:

  • Thin fabrics made from natural fibers (e.g., cotton lawn, voile)
  • Thin fabrics made from blended fibers (e.g., rayon challis, linen blends)
  • Chiffon

Additional Supplies

No additional notions are required.

Cutter's Must

  • From main fabric:
  • Back – 2 pieces
  • Front – 4 pieces
  • Lower Back – 1 piece
  • Lower Front – 2 pieces
  • Sleeve – 2 pieces

Sewing Instructions

  1. Stitch the darts on the Front and Back pieces. Press the darts towards the center of the pieces.
  2. Stitch the side seams joining the Lower Front pieces to the Lower Back. Press the seams towards the back and overlock.
  3. Overlock the center front edges of the Lower Front pieces, press them to the wrong side and topstitch.
  4. Stitch the shoulder and side seams of the outer bodice (one Back and two Front pieces). Stitch the shoulder and side seams of the inner bodice in the same way. Press the seams open and overlock.
  5. Place the outer and inner bodices right sides together, insert the assembled lower part between them along the bottom edge, and stitch all around the back neckline, front edges, ties and bottom edges. The lower part must lie against the outer bodice. Clip the curves, turn the blouse right side out through the armhole, and press.
  6. Stitch the sleeve seam and overlock it. Press the sleeve seam towards the back.
  7. Set in the sleeves, easing the cap. Overlock the seam.
  8. Finish the bottom of the garment and sleeves with a narrow rolled hem.
