Cutting Plan

  • From main fabric:
  • 1. Back – 1 piece
  • 2. Front – 1 piece
  • 3. Sleeve – 2 pieces
  • 4. Collar – 1 piece
  • 5. Placket – 2 pieces

Tip: Cut pieces from knit fabrics are sewn with a special elastic or narrow zigzag stitch. When serging, trim seam allowances to 0.6 – 0.8 cm. Hem allowance is topstitched with a twin needle to maintain elasticity.

Sewing Instructions

  1. On the right side of the front piece, mark: the cutting line for the closure, the transverse line defining the end of the closure, and two auxiliary lines located 1 cm from the center front, defining the placket width. The placket width is 2 cm. Fold the plackets lengthwise along the cutting line, right sides together. Stitch the plackets along the marked lines, with a seam allowance of 1 cm. Cut the front piece along the cutting line, stopping 1 cm from the end, then diagonally to the placket stitching line. Turn the plackets to the right side, straighten, and press. Fold the seam allowance of the placket to the inside from the wrong side and topstitch it into the placket attachment seam. Fold the corner inwards. Turn the plackets to the wrong side, overlap the right placket over the left, and secure them together, catching the corner. Serge the ends of the plackets. Topstitch the bottom edge of the closure as shown in the illustration.
  2. Stitch the shoulder and side seams of the back and front pieces. Serge the seams and press them towards the back.
  3. Stitch the sleeve seams. Serge the seams and press.
  4. Set the sleeves into the armholes, matching the notches. Serge the seams and press.
  5. Stitch the collar, turn right side out, and press. Attach the upper collar to the neckline. Fold the seam allowance of the lower collar inwards and topstitch it into the upper collar attachment seam.
  6. Serge the bottom edge of the garment and the bottom edge of the sleeves. Fold to the wrong side, press, and topstitch.
