Cutting Plan

  • From main fabric:
  • 1. Upper back part – 2 pieces
  • 2. Lower back part – 1 piece
  • 3. Upper front part – 4 pieces
  • 4. Lower front part – 2 pieces
  • 5. Collar – 2 pieces
  • 6. Belt – 4 pieces
  • From fusible interfacing:
  • 1. Collar – 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse interfacing to the collar.
  2. Stitch the dart on the upper back part. Press the dart towards the center.
  3. Stitch the center back seam. Serge the seam allowances and press.
  4. Serge the back armhole, fold it under, and topstitch at 0.7 cm.
  5. Stitch the collar. Turn the collar right side out and press.
  6. Place the upper front parts right sides together and stitch the armhole. Stitch the wrap-around edge from the waist to the notch. Clip the seam allowance at the notch. Leave the section from the notch to the armhole unstitched. Turn the upper front part right side out and press. Trim/grade seam allowances. Then treat the piece as a single layer.
  7. Attach the undercollar to the upper back and front parts. Press the seam towards the collar. Press the seam allowance of the upper collar inwards and stitch in the ditch.
  8. Run a basting stitch with loose tension 0.5 cm from the edge along the lower edge of the upper front part. Gather between the notches.
  9. Stitch the upper and lower front parts together. Serge the seam allowances and press towards the upper part.
  10. Stitch the upper and lower back parts together. Serge the seam allowances and press towards the upper part.
  11. Serge the raw edges of the right side seam of the back and front. Stitch the side seams, leaving an opening for the belt in the right side seam. Serge the left seam and press towards the front, press the right seam open. Topstitch along the opening in the side seam.
  12. Stitch the belts. Turn the pieces right side out and press.
  13. Serge the bottom edge of the top, fold it under, and topstitch 0.8 cm from the edge.
  14. Serge the raw edge of the lower front part. Press the edge to the wrong side by 0.8 cm. Insert the belt between the pressed allowance and the main piece. Topstitch the allowance together with the belt. Fold the belt out and stitch a securing seam.
