Sewing Instructions
- Fuse interfacing to the diamond piece.
- Mark and create pleats on the main and lining front pieces. Secure the ends of the pleats with a stitch 0.5 cm from the edge.
- Attach the interfaced diamond piece to the right front half. Overlock the seam and press towards the diamond. Attach the left front half to the diamond, simultaneously stitching the center seam. Overlock the seam and press towards the diamond. Process the front lining in a similar manner.
- Overlock the center back edge. Stitch the center back seam up to the notch for the zipper. Press open the center back seam, pressing the zipper allowances. Insert the zipper.
- Overlock the center back lining edge. Stitch the center back lining seam up to the notch for the zipper. Press open the center seam, pressing the zipper allowances.
- Stitch the side seams on the main and lining pieces. Overlock the seams and press towards the back.
- Cut a 5.2 x 5.2 cm square from the main fabric. Fold in half right sides together and stitch. Turn the piece right side out and press. Fold the resulting loop in half and pin to the upper edge of the diamond.
- Place main and lining pieces right sides together and align the upper back edge. Fold back the lining 5 mm from the edges of the concealed fastener and pin to the upper back edge. On the right side of the top, fold back the allowances along the zipper and pin to the upper back edge over the lining. Finish the upper edge of the top with the lining. Fold the allowances along the fastener to the wrong side. Fold the lining up and topstitch along the back onto the seam allowance 1-2 mm from the seam. Fold the lining to the wrong side and attach it to the zipper tape.
- Secure the main and lining pieces along the diamond edge with a stitch 0.5 cm from the edge.
- Even out the bottom of the garment so that the main fabric's bottom edge is 1.5 cm shorter than the lining. Finish the bottom of the garment with a hem.
- Cut the strap. Fold the strap lengthwise right sides together and stitch 0.5 cm from the fold. Turn the strap right side out and press. Thread the strap through the loop and tie.
