Tech. Description

Wrap Top with a Side Tie

A women's sleeveless wrap top in light silk or viscose, with a round neckline that opens into a small V at the centre front and a curved wrap edge running down to the side. Two ties sewn to the front edges go around the waist, one through an opening in the right side seam, and knot at the left side.

When To Wear

  • Summer office and daytime wear, with trousers or a pencil skirt.
  • Evenings out with a skirt, or under a light jacket.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Fitted, shaped by bust darts on the fronts and princess seams on the back.

Length: Short, ending a little below the waist.

Neckline: Round, with a small V-shaped opening at the centre front where the wrap begins; finished with an interfaced facing joined at the shoulders.

Sleeves: Sleeveless; armholes bound with bias binding folded in half.

Front: Right and left fronts lap over each other, each with a side bust dart. A tie made of two stitched layers is sewn to the end of each front edge, with the neckline facing and the hem allowance folded over it in the same seam.

Back: Centre back seam and princess seams from the armholes, pressed towards the centre.

Waist: The ties wrap around the waist; the right side seam has an opening, topstitched around, for one tie to pass through.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Fine, slippery fabric, bias-bound armholes, a shaped facing, a topstitched opening in the side seam and ties caught into the front edge together with the facing and hem.

Fabric Recommendations

Thin silk and viscose fabrics.
