Cutting Plan
- From main fabric:
- 1. Front center part - 2 pieces
- 2. Front side part – 2 pieces
- 3. Back center part - 1 piece
- 4. Back side part – 2 pieces
- 5. Front facing - 2 pieces
- 6. Back neckline facing – 1 piece
- 7. Tab/Strap – 2 pieces
- 8. Back armhole facing – 2 pieces
- 9. Front armhole facing – 2 pieces
- From fusible interfacing: front facing, back neckline facing, back armhole facing, front armhole facing.
Sewing Instructions
- Fuse interfacing to the front facing, back neckline facing, back and front armhole facings.
- Fold straps lengthwise in half, right sides together, and stitch along two sides. Trim corners, turn straps right side out, and topstitch.
- Stitch and serge/overlock the front princess seams. Press seam allowances towards the center.
- Stitch the back princess seams, inserting the straps. Serge/overlock and press seams towards the center.
- Place front pieces right sides together and align edges, measuring the length of the front openings. Attach the zipper to the edge of the front opening. Fold the edges of the front opening in the zipper area and press.
- Serge/overlock the outer edges of the back neckline facing and the front facing.
- Place the front facing onto the right side of the front piece, right side down, pin, and stitch along the front edge line. Stitching is done from the front piece side upwards. Stitch the lower edges of the facings to the front center part strictly along the marked hemline. Trim the seams of the lower front corners. Turn the front edges right side out, straighten the seams, and press.
- Serge/overlock the bottom hem and side edges of the garment.
- Stitch and press open the side and shoulder seams of the vest.
- Stitch and press open the shoulder seams of the back neckline facing and the front facing. Stitch the back and front neckline. Turn the facing to the wrong side, clip seam allowances at curves. Straighten seams and press. Understitch seam allowances to the neckline facing 0.2 cm from the seam.
- Stitch the side and shoulder seams of the front and back armhole facings. Serge/overlock the armhole facing along its outer contour. Place the armhole facing onto the vest right sides together and stitch. Turn the facing to the wrong side, clipping the armhole at curves. Understitch seam allowances to the armhole facing 0.2 cm from the seam.
- Secure the neckline facing at the shoulder seams with a 1 cm tack/bar tack. Secure the armhole facing at the side and shoulder seams and princess seams with a 1 cm tack/bar tack.
- Even out and serge/overlock the bottom edge of the vest. Turn up the hem allowance to the wrong side and stitch. Topstitch along the zipper 0.5 cm from the edge.
