  • 5. Front panel – 2 pieces
  • 6. Back panel – 2 pieces
  • 7. Front gore – 1 piece
  • 8. Back gore – 1 piece
  • 9. Shaped front waistband – 1 piece
  • 10. Shaped back waistband – 2 pieces
  • From lining fabric:
  • 11. Center upper front piece – 1 piece
  • 12. Side upper front piece – 2 pieces
  • 13. Side upper back piece – 2 pieces
  • 14. Center upper back piece – 2 pieces
  • 15. Back panel – 2 pieces
  • 16. Front panel – 1 piece

Sewing Instructions

  1. Mark and stitch waist darts on the front and back panels. Press the darts on the front panel towards the center front panel, and on the back panel towards the center back panel.
  2. Overlock the center edge of the center front piece. Stitch and press open the center front seam. Attach the side upper front piece to the center front piece. Overlock the seam allowance and press it towards the center piece.
  3. Overlock the center edge of the front panel, stitch and press open. Attach the shaped front waistband to the front panel. Overlock the seam allowance and press it downwards. Attach the front bodice to the upper edge of the waistband. Overlock the seam allowance and press it towards the waistband. Attach the gore to the front panel. Overlock the seam allowance and press it towards the gore.
  4. Attach the side upper back piece to the center upper back piece. Overlock the seam allowance and press it towards the center back piece. Attach the shaped back waistband to the back panel. Overlock the seam allowance and press it towards the back panel. Attach the back bodice to the upper edge of the waistband. Overlock the seam allowance and press it towards the waistband.
  5. Overlock the center back edge and stitch up to the notch for the zipper. Press open the center back seam, press the zipper opening. Insert the zipper. Attach the gore to the back panel. Overlock the seam allowance and press it towards the gore.
  6. Cut out straps. Fold the straps lengthwise and stitch 0.5 cm from the fold. Turn the straps right side out and press. Sew the straps to the front neckline edge.
  7. Overlock the side edges. Stitch and press open the side seams of the dress.
  8. Mark and stitch waist darts on the front and back lining panels. Press the front lining panel darts towards the center front lining panel, and the back lining panel darts towards the center back lining panel. Stitch the dress lining pieces. Overlock the seams and press towards the back. Overlock the bottom edge of the dress lining, press to the wrong side of the lining and topstitch.
  9. Place the lining and dress right sides together and stitch the armhole edges of the front and back, as well as the neckline edges of the front and back, adjusting the straps. Topstitch the neckline and armhole seam allowances to the dress lining 0.2 cm from the stitching line. Fold the center edge of the lining and stitch to the dress allowances in the zipper area.
  10. Try on the dress, adjust the strap length and sew the back ends to the back.
  11. Overlock the bottom edge of the dress, fold up and topstitch 0.5 cm from the bottom edge.
