Cutting Plan
- From main fabric:
- Upper back piece – 2 pieces
- Lower back piece – 2 pieces
- Lower front piece – 1 piece
- Upper front piece – 1 piece
Sewing Instructions
- Mark and stitch the waist darts on the lower front and back pieces. Press the darts on the front towards the center front, and on the back towards the center back.
- Stitch the side seams of the upper front and back pieces. Overlock the side seams of the upper front and back pieces. Press the side seams towards the upper back piece.
- Stitch the side seams of the lower front and back pieces. Overlock the side seams of the lower front and back pieces and press towards the back.
- Stitch with loose basting stitches along the lower edge of the upper dress piece, 0.5 cm from the edge. Gather and attach the upper dress piece to the lower piece. Overlock the attachment seam and press towards the lower piece. Apply decorative trim to the attachment seam of the upper piece, pin it to the garment, and topstitch it onto the lower dress piece along the upper and lower edges of the trim, 0.2 cm from the edge. Remove pins.
- Stitch with loose basting stitches along the upper edge of the upper dress piece, 0.5 cm from the upper edge, and gather. Attach decorative trim to the upper dress piece. Overlock the seam and press towards the upper dress piece. Topstitch along the trim attachment seam, 0.2 cm from the seam. Overlock the shaped neckline of the upper front piece, fold under and topstitch onto the dress, 0.7 cm from the edge of the neckline. Thread the cord for the straps into the topstitched allowance of the shaped neckline.
- Overlock the center back seam of the dress, stitch up to the notch for the zipper, and press open, pressing the zipper opening flat. Insert the zipper. Try on the dress, adjust the strap length, and sew the back ends to the back.
- Overlock the lower edge of the dress, fold under and topstitch 2.5 cm from the lower edge.
