Cutting Plan
- From main fabric:
- Back – 2 pieces
- Front – 1 piece
- From lining fabric:
- Back – 2 pieces
- Front – 1 piece
- From fusible interfacing:
- Back armhole facing – 2 pieces
- Front armhole facing – 1 piece
Sewing Instructions
- Fuse interfacing to the armhole facings of the front and back pieces made from the main fabric.
- Mark and stitch darts on the back and front. Press back darts towards the center back, and front darts towards the center front. Mark and stitch bust darts on the front. Press darts downwards.
- Overlock the side seams of the front and back, and the center back seam.
- Stitch and press open the side and shoulder seams of the front and back, leaving slits in the side seams. Press the slits and topstitch along the slits 0.5 cm from the edge.
- Mark and stitch darts on the lining. Press lining darts in the same direction as the main fabric. Stitch side and shoulder seams of the lining. Overlock the side and shoulder seams of the lining. Press shoulder and side seams towards the back. Overlock the bottom edge of the lining, press to the wrong side of the lining, and topstitch. Overlock the center back seam of the lining, stitch up to the notch for the zipper, and press open.
- Stitch and press open the center back seam of the dress up to the notch for the zipper. Insert the invisible zipper.
- Place lining and dress right sides together and stitch the neckline edge. Topstitch seam allowances to the front and back lining 0.2 cm from the stitching line. Stitch the upper part of the armhole, adjust the lining, straightening the straps, then stitch the lower part of the armhole. Topstitch armhole facing seam allowances to the lining 0.2 cm from the stitching line. Fold the center back edge of the lining and stitch to the dress seam allowances in the zipper area.
- Overlock the bottom edge of the dress, fold up, and topstitch 1.5 cm from the bottom edge.
