Fabric Recommendations

Choose a medium-weight fabric with good body and drape to best achieve the skirt's structured yet flowing silhouette:

  • Denim

Additional Supplies

  • Fusible interfacing
  • 1 zipper

Cutter's Must

  • From main fabric:
    1. Skirt Gore – 4 pieces
    2. Facing – 4 pieces
  • From fusible interfacing: Facing.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Fuse interfacing to the Facing pieces.
  2. Serge the edges of the zipper opening in the left side gore. Stitch the Skirt Gores together, leaving the zipper opening unstitched. Serge the seam allowances and press.
  3. Stitch the side seams of the Facings and press the seams open. Serge the outer (lower) edge of the inner facing.
  4. Insert the zipper. Stitch the outer facing to the upper edge of the skirt. Stitch the inner facing to the outer facing along the upper edge. Understitch the seam allowance onto the facing 0.2 cm from the seam, stopping 3 cm from the ends. Turn under the side edges of the inner facing at the opening and stitch them to the zipper seam allowances. Stitch the serged lower edge of the inner facing in the ditch of the seam joining the outer facing to the skirt.
  5. Serge the lower edge of the skirt, press the hem to the wrong side and topstitch.
