Tech. Description

Princess Seam Dress with Lace Sleeves

Introducing a refined midi-length dress pattern, elegantly shaped with vertical princess seams and featuring delicate lace sleeves.

When To Wear

This dress is designed for sophisticated occasions, making it an ideal choice for:

  • Formal Business & Office: Its tailored silhouette and modest length are perfect for professional environments.
  • Cocktail & Evening Events: The elegant lace sleeves and refined cut elevate it for semi-formal gatherings or dinners.
  • Special Occasions: A chic option for celebrations, cultural events, or upscale daytime affairs.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: A sleek, fitted silhouette achieved through vertical princess seams on both front and back, extending to a sophisticated midi length.

Neckline: A graceful rounded neckline featuring a subtle V-shaped keyhole opening, elegantly finished with a bias-bound facing.

Closure: Concealed zipper closure at the center back seam for a seamless and polished finish.

Sleeves: Long, two-piece set-in sleeves crafted from a contrasting lace fabric, providing an elegant and distinctive detail.

Waist: Defined at the natural waistline by the contouring effect of the princess seams.

Hem: A clean, straight hemline that finishes at a sophisticated midi length, just below the knee.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Requires skills in constructing princess seams, setting in sleeves, creating a bias-bound neckline, and installing a concealed zipper.

Fabric Recommendations

    3. BACK PANEL Center – 2 QTY
    4. FRONT PANEL Side – 2 QTY

Sewing Instructions

TIP: To keep the fabric stretchy in the areas of finished seams, stitch the cut pieces with a narrow zigzag or special stretchy stitch. To keep the bottom edge stretchy, overcast the hem with an overlock stitch, then stitch it using a twin needle. The same applies to finishing other edges of the garment that should not lose elasticity. These recommendations do not apply to industrial production.

  1. Stitch and overcast the vertical princess seams on the FRONT PANEL and BACK PANEL. Press the FRONT PANEL princess seams towards the center of the FRONT PANEL, and the BACK PANEL princess seams towards the center of the BACK PANEL.
  2. Stitch and overcast the SLEEVE seams.
  3. Stitch and overcast the dress side seams. Press the dress side seams towards the BACK PANEL.
  4. Set the SLEEVES into the armholes.
  5. Finish the neckline with BIAS BINDING.
  6. Overcast the center back seam. Stitch the center back seam up to the NOTCH for the ZIPPER. Press open the center back seam and press the ZIPPER opening. Place the ZIPPER under the SEAM ALLOWANCES so that the teeth are not visible, and stitch.
  7. Overcast, fold under, and topstitch the bottom of the dress and SLEEVES.
