Halterneck Gathered Crop Top

Introducing a stylish women's sewing pattern for a halterneck crop top, featuring a gracefully gathered neckline and a relaxed, breezy fit.

When To Wear:

This versatile top is perfect for warm-weather dressing, suitable for:

  • Casual Outings: Ideal for everyday wear, from brunch to garden parties.
  • Summer Vacations: Lightweight & chic for resort wear or beachside relaxation.
  • Dressy Casual Events: Pair with a skirt or tailored trousers for an elevated look.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: An a-line cropped silhouette, slightly loose-fitting from the bust for comfort and drape.

Neckline: Halterneck style with a gathered drawstring channel that ties elegantly behind the neck.

Closure: a practical three-button closure at the back hem ensures ease of wear.

Sleeves: Sleeveless design with neatly bound armholes for a clean finish.

Length: Cropped, designed to finish at the natural waist or slightly above, perfect for pairing with high-waisted bottoms.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Requires skills in creating a drawstring casing, binding curved edges, and sewing buttonholes.

Fabric Recommendations

Choose comfortable knit fabrics with good drape for this design:

  • Cotton knit
  • Viscose knit

Additional Supplies

  • 3 buttons

Cutter's Must

  • From main fabric:
  • 1. Top - 2 qty
  • 2. Tie – 1 qty

Tip: To ensure the fabric remains stretchy in the areas of finished seams, stitch the cut pieces with a narrow zigzag or special stretch stitch. To keep the bottom edge stretchy, the hem should be serged with an overlock stitch, and then stitched using a twin needle. The same applies to finishing other edges of the garment that should not lose elasticity. These recommendations do not apply to industrial production.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Press the bottom edge of the top by 1 cm on both pieces.
  2. Fold the tie in half lengthwise, right sides together, stitch, turn right side out, and topstitch the ends.
  3. Stitch the neckline of the top, folding the top pieces right sides together.
  4. Stitch the armholes of the top, leaving an opening for the cord.
  5. Stitch the décolletage and the fastener edge on the back of the top.
  6. Turn the top right side out.
  7. Stitch along the neckline.
  8. Thread the cord through the neckline.
  9. Topstitch along the armholes, décolletage, and fastener edge.
  10. Topstitch along the bottom of the top.
  11. Make three buttonholes and sew on three buttons.
