Tech. Description

Drawstring Neck Raglan Blouse with Flounce Sleeves

Introducing a women's blouse pattern designed with a soft, adjustable drawstring neckline with a front keyhole slit, featuring raglan sleeves finished with dramatic double-tiered flounces.

When To Wear

This versatile blouse is perfect for a variety of occasions, offering effortless style for:

  • Casual Outings: Its relaxed yet elegant design makes it ideal for daytime wear and informal gatherings.
  • Resort & Vacation Wear: The lightweight fabric and flowy sleeves are perfect for warmer climates and relaxed holiday styling.
  • Semi-Formal Gatherings: Can be dressed up with appropriate bottoms for sophisticated social events or evening wear.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Semi-fitted through the bodice with vertical darts at the front and back for shaping, gracefully flowing to the hem.

Neckline: Round drawstring neckline with a casing and a central front keyhole slit finished with bias binding; the cord ties at the front.

Sleeves: Raglan sleeves finished at the lower edge with two tiers of flared flounces (a bigger and a smaller one).

Back: Shaped with vertical darts, mirroring the front for a cohesive and flattering fit.

Hem: Straight hemline designed to fall around the hip.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. Requires skills in dart construction, attaching multiple gathered flounces, creating a neckline casing, and working with potentially delicate fabrics.

Fabric Recommendations

Choose lightweight, drapey fabrics to achieve the intended flowing silhouette and delicate sleeve detail:

  • Chiffon (natural silk)
  • Chiffon (polyester)

Additional Supplies

Cord for the neckline drawstring.

Cutter's Must

  • Front - 1 piece
  • Back - 1 piece
  • Sleeve - 2 pieces
  • Bigger Flounce - 2 pieces
  • Smaller Flounce - 2 pieces

Cut bias binding 5.0 cm wide.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Stitch vertical darts on the front and back.
  2. Attach the Smaller Flounce and Bigger Flounce to the lower edge of each sleeve.
  3. Stitch the sleeve seams.
  4. Stitch the side seams.
  5. Set the sleeves into the armholes.
  6. Fold the bias binding for the keyhole slit in half lengthwise and press. Stitch the folded binding to the edge of the slit so that the fold lies 0.75 cm onto the garment. Trim the seam allowances to 0.5 cm. Turn the binding to the wrong side and topstitch the blouse along the slit.
  7. Fold under and topstitch the neckline edge of the front and back to form a casing, leaving an opening for the cord.
  8. Prepare the cord and thread it through the neckline casing.
  9. Fold under and topstitch the lower edges of the sleeves and the blouse.
