  • For the office with a fitted jacket or cardigan.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Fitted at the waist, flaring out from the waistband to the hem in soft folds.

Length: Knee length.

Closure: Zip in the top of the centre back seam, set so that the edges of the opening meet over the teeth and stitched 0.5 cm from the edges; button and buttonhole on the waistband.

  • 1 button
  • Fusible interfacing (waistband)

Cutter's Must

  • From main fabric:
  • Skirt – 3 pieces (1 piece cut on fold for the front, 2 pieces for the back)
  • Waistband – 1 piece
  • From fusible interfacing: Waistband.

Sewing Instructions

Finishing instructions: Before hemming the skirt, let it hang on a hanger and re-mark the hemline.

  1. Stitch the center back seam and the side seams, leaving a 20 cm opening for the zipper at the top of the center back seam. Press the seam allowances open; press the seam allowances along the opening to the wrong side.
  2. Baste the zipper in from the inside so that the edges of the opening meet over the zipper teeth when it is closed. Stitch the zipper 0.5 cm from the edges, starting at the left edge of the opening. Use a zipper foot for this.
  3. Stitch the Waistband to the upper edge of the skirt, right sides together, letting it extend beyond the right edge of the opening. Press the seam allowances toward the Waistband. Fold the Waistband in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch the ends. Turn the Waistband right side out, turn under the open edge and stitch it in the ditch of the attachment seam.
  4. Work a buttonhole on the left end of the Waistband. Sew a button on the right end.
  5. Press the hem allowance to the wrong side, turn under the raw edge and topstitch.
