Tech. Description

Asymmetrical Wrap Midi Skirt

A women's straight midi skirt with no waistband, an asymmetric front overlap with a curved edge fastened by buttons at the waist, and cord lacing through eyelets above a box pleat at the centre back.

When To Wear

  • In spring and summer with a tucked-in blouse or fitted knit top.
  • For the office or day events with a short jacket.

Key Design Features

Silhouette: Straight and close-fitting, shaped at the waist with darts on the back and at the sides.

Length: Midi, below the knee.

Front: The right skirt panel overlaps the left; its front edge curves from the waist at one side down to the hem at the other and is finished with an interfaced facing. The underlapping left panel has its upper, lower and front edges overlocked, turned under and topstitched.

Closure: Three buttonholes on the right panel with buttons on the left panel, plus an inner button on the right panel and a buttonhole on the left panel holding the underlap.

Back: Centre back seam pressed open, a pressed box pleat at the centre back, and cord laced through six eyelets at the waist, tied in a bow.

Waist: No waistband; back darts pressed toward the centre, side darts trimmed to 1 cm, overlocked and pressed toward the front.

Level Of Difficulty

Intermediate. An asymmetric overlap with a faced curved edge, a box pleat, setting eyelets and a two-layer button closure.

Fabric Recommendations

Light blended fabrics of natural or mixed fibres, such as crepe georgette.

Additional Supplies

  • 4 buttons
  • 6 eyelets
