- From main fabric:
- 1. Centre back - 1 piece on fold
- 2. Side back - 2 pieces
- 3. Side upper front - 2 pieces
- 4. Centre front - 1 piece on fold
- 5. Lower front - 2 pieces
- 6. Strap - 2 pieces
- From lace:
- Inset - 2 pieces
Sewing Instructions
- Stitch the center seam of the lower front.
- Overlock and press to the wrong side the seam allowances along the lace-inset attachment seams on the upper and centre front pieces. Topstitch the lace insets onto the front so their edges extend 0.5 cm beyond the pressed folds.
- Attach the upper front pieces to the lower front, right sides together.
- On the wrong side of the centre back, loosely lay elastic threads along the marked lines. Stitch over them with a zigzag stitch, without piercing the threads. Gather the fabric onto the elastic threads to create soft smocking, and secure the ends.
- Press the upper edge of the centre back to the wrong side and topstitch to form a casing. Thread elastic through the casing, gather, and secure the ends. Press the upper edges of the centre and side front panels and the side back panels to the wrong side and topstitch.
- Stitch the princess seams of the back and the side seams.
- Fold the straps in half lengthwise, right sides together, and stitch along the long side. Turn right side out, baste, and press. Sew the front ends under the points of the cups. Try on the dress, adjust the strap length, and sew the back ends under the upper edge of the back at the level of the darts.
- Overlock the hem allowance, press to the wrong side, and topstitch.
