Fabric Recommendations

  • Silk crepe
  • Textured blends such as tweed or bouclé

Additional Supplies

  • Lining fabric
  • Fusible interfacing
  • 1 zipper

CUTTER'S MUST

  • From main fabric:
    1. BACK PANEL - 2 QTY
    2. FRONT PANEL - 1 QTY on fold
  • From LINING:
    1. BACK PANEL - 2 QTY
    2. FRONT PANEL - 1 QTY on fold
  • From FUSIBLE INTERFACING: interface the neckline and armholes of the BACK PANEL and FRONT PANEL on the LINING pieces with 2 cm wide fusible strips.

Sewing Instructions

  1. Interface the neckline and armholes of the BACK PANEL and FRONT PANEL on the LINING pieces with 2 cm wide fusible strips. (Fusible interfacings are pressed onto the wrong side of the piece with a hot iron)
  2. Stitch the center back seam from the ZIPPER mark to the hem. Finish and press open the SEAM ALLOWANCES, press the edges of the opening for the ZIPPER.
  3. Stitch the darts on the BACK PANEL and FRONT PANEL. Press waist darts towards the center, and bust darts downwards.
  4. Baste the ZIPPER so that the teeth are not visible, and stitch at a distance of 0.5 cm.
  5. Stitch the shoulder seams, finish and press open the SEAM ALLOWANCES.
  6. Process the LINING pieces the same way as the main pieces. Place the LINING and main piece right sides together and stitch along the neckline and armhole edges. Turn the top of the dress right side out by pulling the BACK PANEL halves through the shoulder tunnel to the front. Without breaking the stitching, sew the side seams on the dress and LINING. Tuck the SEAM ALLOWANCES of the neckline and armholes under the LINING and topstitch the LINING to the SEAM ALLOWANCES close to the seam.
  7. Finish the hem of the dress and LINING with a turned-under seam, with the LINING being 2 cm shorter than the main dress.
